The Sign – Beauty Hub L’Oréal Italia

Like the rest of the complex, the building housing the Beauty Hub L’Oréal Italia is designed according to the highest standards of energy-environmental sustainability, with a focus on comfort, well-being, and health of the people, following the design method perfected by Progetto CMR, InsideOut: from the inside out.

The design work centers on the human being and their needs, giving shape to a new landmark that is multifunctional and rich in greenery, playing a role as an attraction in the urban context.

The building was designed and constructed according to the most rigorous sustainability standards to ensure a reduced environmental impact, a healthy and comfortable working environment for the occupants, and a reduction in long-term operational costs. It aims to achieve LEED certification with a Platinum score. The façades provide high thermal and acoustic performance, improving energy efficiency. The reinforced concrete and steel structures ensure stability and safety, while innovative plant solutions have allowed for energy efficiency and comfort above regulatory requirements, exceeding the minimum thermal needs coverage by 30% with renewable energy sources and the installed photovoltaic power, thus earning the bonus provided by the “renewables decree.”

Climate control is achieved via radiant ceilings, while air exchange occurs through high-efficiency treatment units, and the photovoltaic system generates energy. To confirm the excellence of its digital connectivity and technological infrastructure, the building has been awarded the WiredScore Certification, Platinum score. The Beauty Hub L’Oréal Italia is therefore ready for the challenges of the digital future, offering its occupants a reliable, fast, and secure connectivity experience with intelligent space management systems and devices that monitor and optimize energy resource usage. These digital tools improve the quality of time spent in the new offices, which are themselves designed to accommodate new work methods, offering a modern and technologically advanced environment that supports the well-being and productivity of the occupants.

The lighting is created with LED technology and DALI communication standards, allowing the creation of multiple lighting scenarios. The building is also equipped with a BMS (Building Management System) that enables the integrated management of all technological functions, including access control, security, fire detection, lighting, and air conditioning. All information related to the various subsystems can be viewed from a supervisory station in the building’s control room.

The Sign is the first urban regeneration project in Italy to have obtained the BiodiverCity certification, which aims to encourage practices that promote biodiversity during the design and construction phases. Those walking through The Sign’s garden will notice spaces set up for butterflies, bee nests, and hedgehog burrows, as well as spotting small frogs in the pond.
