The head office of IMCD Italia — part of the Dutch IMCD group, a global market leader in the distribution and formulation of specialty chemicals and ingredients — has obtained the prestigious WELL Platinum certification, and is the only one in Italy to have achieved this result in the Materials & Chemicals sector. This milestone was reached thanks to synergy with two companies of the Progetto CMR International Group: Progetto CMR — a company specialized in integrated design and for over 30 years an Italian leader in office space planning — signed off on the design concept, and Progetto Design & Build — a leader in the creation of very high‑level workspaces — carried it out.
The intervention covers an area of about 4,000 square meters distributed over 3 floors plus a terrace, set within the iconic Dante Benini building at via Borsi 9 in Milan, also selected for its top‑level sustainability certifications (BREEAM Excellent).
The synergy between IMCD Italia’s vision of sustainability in its broadest sense and the design approach “from working spaces to living places” by the companies of the Progetto CMR International Group created the conditions to reach this important result.
The Progetto CMR team, in collaboration with EETRA Benefit Corporation, a B Corp certified company specializing in ESG consulting, drew up a layout of environments capable of supporting new modalities of work and collaboration, even informal ones, among the people at IMCD Italia’s headquarters, centered on the quality of spaces to improve the health and well‑being of those who live and work inside them. Multifunctional spaces have been designed and built where the quality of the indoor environment is an essential condition; break areas; greenery both inside with entire walls covered in natural vegetation and outside thanks to generous terraces, which also host equipment for workouts; as well as measures to improve acoustics.
